“A light went on in my hotel closet when I opened the door. It cast a peculiar shadow, creating a lifeless chamber. Noticing the TV, I instinctively moved it into the closet. I envisioned Jim Morrison kneeling behind it, the tube suggesting an x-ray image of his nerve center—his thoughts.”
