In 1958, at age 18, Larry Fink moved from his native Long Island to New York and leased a studio apartment in Greenwich village.
“It was my destiny to get in touch with them for my penchant for drugs, anger and poetry,” Fink writes in his book The beats, a collection of images, taken in 1958. “The pictures I made at that time are the result of four months of travelling in my world in 1958, and was skating on thin ice of adulthood.“
